Daya Antibakteri Ektrak dan Fraksi Daun Ubi Rambat (Ipomea batatas L) Terhadap Pertumbuhan bakteri Pseudomonas aeruginosa
ABSTRACT: Polyphenols are
compounds that contained in some of the plants and fruits play a role in health
protection by improving immune system, reducing risk of cancer and
neurodegenerative diseases. This polyphenol compounds serve as antioxidants for
free radical scavenging, and antibacterial with disrupting permeability of cell
membrane. The rich of polyphenols in sweet potato leaves (Ipomea batatas L.)
can be utilized to inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Sweet potato
leaves are extracted by maceration methods. The solvent used is ethanol. This
research aims to determine antibacterial activity of extracts, n-hexane, ethyl
acetate and n-butanol fractions of Sweet Potato (Ipomea batatas L) leaves
against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The antibacterial activity determined by disc
diffusion and macrodilution methods. The concentrations of extract are 62.5
μg/125 μg/mL, mL, 250 μg/mL, 500 μg/mL, 1000 μg/mL . n-butanol fraction has the
highest antibacterial activity than others with average diameter of inhibition zone
12.63 mm. Macrodilution test show MIC values of extracts and fraction is 500
μg/mL.
