PENERAPAN KURIKULUM BERBASIS KARAKTER UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN SOFT SKILL SISWA SMK
Abstract: Based on the
observations made by the researcher, it is shown that most vocational high school
graduates who recently work in the company are relatively having difficulty to
have higher position. It is due to graduates of vocational high school still
have not had good soft skills and do not have a habit or character based on
their field work. Therefore, it is necessary to create such a professionalism character
for every vocational
high school students.
In this case,
the implementation of curriculum-based characters seems to be used as an
alternative to develop soft skills and shape up the character of vocational
students. This study uses a qualitative approach and was conducted
in SMK Negeri
1 Kepanjen particularly
on Automotive Engineering
program students on productive
subjects. Data collection
procedures in this
research include interviews, documentation, and observation.
The result of the study shows that the character-based curriculum is implemented
at SMK Negeri
1 Kepanjen for
Automotive Engineering program
in form of the
development of School-Based
Curriculum in which
it contains characters.
The purpose of the
implementation of this curriculum is to establish the students’ character in
accordance with the field work and the existing character towards the students’
soft skills. Furthermore, in formulating the
curriculum, it is
done based on
competencies at schools
and the industry
which bears the 8 basic
character education which is then developed in the form of a syllabus and
lesson plan.
