PENENTUAN KONDISI OPTIMUM ABSORPSI CO2 HASIL PEMBAKARAN BATUBARA OLEH LARUTAN NATRIUM HIDROKSIDA (NaOH)

Abstract: Along with increasing CO2 gas emission in the air that caused by burning fossil fuels for power plan  or  transportation,  so  this  emission  should  be  controlled.  Controlling  the  emission  can  be done by ‘catching’ CO2 gas emission produced by fossil fuels.One of the fossil fuels is coal. The aim of this research is to know the optimum condition of absorbing  CO2 as the result of burning coal  by  using  NaOH  with  influenced  by  coal  mass,  air  flow  velocity,  and  concentration  of absorber  fluid.  For  45  mg  coal  sample,  resulted  the  highest  absorption  ability  which  is  22.29%. Best  flows  velocity  is  300  mL/min  with  absorption  27.60%.  Air  flows  velocity  depends  on absorbing  CO2.  In  variation  of  fluid  absorber  concentration  (NaOH),  optimum  condition  of absorbing CO2 is 0.325 N with absorption 35,56%.
