STUDI KUALITAS PERAIRAN BERDASARKAN INDEKS SAPROBITAS DI EMBUNG BOLONG KECAMATAN NUNUKAN KABUPATEN NUNUKAN KALIMANTAN UTARA
ABSTRACT: Embung Bolong
located at the upstream of Sungai Bolong in Nunukan regency, North Kalimantan, be
used as raw water of PDAM and the activities of communities. Existence of
Embung Bolong is very important for the survival of the ecosystem, especially
for Nunukan Regency society, so should be treated the existence of the threat
of contamination. This study aims to describe the existence of plankton and
water quality, was
conducted in 4
station and 3 repitition each
station (morning, noon,
afternoon). Observed were based on analysis of the abundance of plankton,
Diversity Index (H'), Equitability Index (E), Dominance Index (D), Saprobic
Index (SI) and Tropic Saprobic Index (TSI), and water quality parameters.
Observations made at four points located on Embung Bolong. The results
of the study
at four sampling
points has 18
species of plankton
community, which consists of 11
genera of phytoplankton they are Chlorophyceae, Cyanopyceae, Crysophyceaeof the
class, and 7 genera of zooplankton, they are: Crustacea Mastigophora,
Rotatoria, Sarcodinaof the class. Plankton abundance between 567 - 7486 ind/l,
diversity index (H') was 1.29 which means the plankton species
diversity and stability
of the community
is small low
(H' <2.3026). Equitabilityindex (E) type of plankton is
0.21, which means the distributions of individuals among species occur unevenly
and dominance of a kind. There are individual plankton are the dominant Brachionussp
(Rotatoria class).
Plankton dominance index (D)
is 0.38, which
means in the community structure observed biota are
not the type who flagrantly dominate the other types , the distribution of
individuals among species occur unevenly and dominance of a kind . Value
saprobic index (SI) values
were 0.89 and
Tropicsaprobic index (TSI)
of 0.17. Embung
Bolong means pollution levels are
at mild to moderate levels and β mesosaprobic to α / β mesosaprobicof saprobitas
index, where these waters are organic and inorganic pollutants.
