UPAYA PEMERINTAH KAMBOJA DALAM MENANGANI HUMAN TRAFFICKING TAHUN 2000 - 2010
Abstract: Globalization has
positive impacts such as increase welfare and the progress of civilization,
however in the other side globalization has negative impact is to encourage the
emergence of cross-border crimes in the world. Globalization have change the
characteristics of the crime, previously in domestic scope shifted into
cros-border or transnational. One type of
the crime is human trafficking. Along with the continuous increase in
sexual crimes, the victims of this crime not only adults but also children.
Cambodia is a source, transit, and destination country for men, women, and
children trafficked for purposes of sexual exploitation and forced labor. To
address the issue, Cambodian goverment take actions by conducting work programs
which is implemented in a National Plan of Action to combat human trafficking
and commercial sexual exploitation. In implementing the programs Cambodian government
cooperating with End Child Prostitution, Abuse and Trafficking in Cambodia
(ECPAT-Cambodia). ECPAT-Cambodia is an International Non-Govermental
Organization which has focused attention on the elimination all forms of
commercial sexual exploitation of children. ECPAT act to assist the government
in implementing the work programs to address the issue such as execute
campaigns, workshops and monitor the implementation of the National Plan of
Action. Besides, the Cambodian government is also cooperating with the Thailand
government to address cross-border of human trafficking from and to Thailand
and Cambodia. The cooperation with Thailand also aims to help the victims back
to their home countries.
