The Dynamics of the Problems’ Settlement in a Marriage
ABSTRACT: This research was an
exploration study of how couples resolved problem in a marriage. It was conducted
by interviewing 10 subjects (eight women and two men) and five key informants
in Sleman District, Yogyakarta.
Almost all of
reaserch subject were
taking care of
divorce in Islamic Court, except
one person, who was loking for information abaout how the inheritance share-out.
The result of this study showed that all reaserch subject had not been able to
solve their marriage problems
effectively and yet
they had not
taken advantage or
the Marriage Advisory Council
to help them
solving and their
feeling ashamed to
tell their problems.
The problem faced by
the research subjects
were widely various,
for examples affairs,
financial problems, and other
specific issues such
as inheritance share-out,
or principle differences between couples. This study
suggests Marriage Advisory Council to socialize their program to society, to
carry out a marriage counseling and pre-marriage briefing to the brides.
