UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN BERCERITA DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN MEDIA GAMBAR PADA SISWA SDN KARANGASEM 1 SURAKARTA

Abstract: The purpose of this action research were: (1) to enhance the story telling skills of elementary school students at Karangasem 1 Surakarta (2). To describe the use of media images that are effective in improving storytelling skills of elementary school students at Karangasem Surakarta. The model used in this research is a model of self-reflection spiral consists of four phases/stages, the plan - action - observation - reflection, with 2 cycles. Research subjects are teachers and students in the third grade of elementary schoool at Karangasem 1 Surakarta, consisting of 37 students.
Object of research is learning story telling in Indonesian Language. Data collecting techniques are test performance and observation. Data analysis techniques used are interactive analysis model, having three components, consist of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusion or verification. Through the findings of the study, the research provides evidence that there is an improvement in story telling proficiency by using media images especially after the classroom action research has done. It can be shown up the students skill improvement whether it was in pre or post action. In the first cycle there is a skill improvement in story telling. The average skill in cycle 1 is 65.03 while in cycle 2 is 78.32 (2) Percentage of exhaustiveness classical in cycle 1 was 51.35% and in cycle 2, 100% of students have achieved the skill in story telling
Based on the research results can be concluded that (1) skills of elementary school students in story telling can be increased by using media images, (2) There was an increase in students storytelling skills after using media images, (3) Use of media images improved the quality of the learning process and learning outcomes in particular on students skills in story telling
