Abstract: Learning motivation
in Social Studies among Elementary School Students in Sleman Regency. This
study aimed: (1) to descriptive the level of elementary school students
learning motivation in Social Studies (SS); and (2) to explain the correlates
of SS learning interest, parents support, and SS learning strategies on SS
learning motivation. This study was an ex post facto. The research population
comprised Year V elementary school students in the academic year of 2011/2012
in Sleman Regency. Samples were 369 students. The sample was established using
the purporsive cluster random sampling technique. The data were collected
through a test and scales. The instrument validity was assessed by means of the
Product Moment correlation and the reliability by Cronbach Alpha. The data were
analyzed using the descriptive analysis technique and the partial correlation
analysis. The results of the study showed that: (1) the SS learning motivation
among students of elementary schools in Sleman Regency was enough level; (2) a
partial, there was a significant relationship between interest in SS learning
with learning motivation, there was a significant relationship between parents
support with SS learning motivation, and there was not significant relationship
between SS learning strategies with learning learning motivation. The magnitude
of the relationship between interest in learning with SS learning motivation
was 0.336, parents support with SS learning motivation was 0.284, and learning
strategies with SS learning motivation was -0.067.
