INHIBISI KOROSI BAJA OLEH EKSTRAK KULIT BUAH RAMBUTAN (Nephelium lappaceum Linn) DALAM MEDIUM ASAM SULFAT
Abstract: The extract of
rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum Linn) fruit peel was used as a corrosion
inhibitor of ST. 37 steel in sulphuric
acid. The weight loss method, potentiodynamic polarization and photooptic
analysis were used in determination of corrosion inhibition of steel. The
result showed corrosion rate decreased by addition of rambutan fruit peel
extract and increase with increasing temperature. The inhibition efficiency
increases with addition of rambutan fruit peel extract and decrease with
increasing temperature. The highest inhibition efficiency is 85.25 % in 0.5 N
sulfuric acid and 0.2 N NaCl with concentration of rambutan fruit peel extract
2.0%. The activation energy with the addition concentration of rambutan fruit
peel was hight than without rambutan fruit peel extract, that is 96.59 kJ/mol
to 120.88 kJ/mol. Photooptic analysis showed that the morphology of steel
surface in 0.5 N sulphuric acid medium and the addition of rambutan fruit peel
extract with a concentration of 2.0%.
Potentiodynamic polarization analysis showed that the inhibitor is mixed
with the highest inhibition efficiency of 89.75%.
