DEGRADASI SENYAWA SIPERMETRIN DALAM PESTISIDA RIPCORD 5 Ec SECARA OZONOLISIS DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN TiO2/ZEOLIT SEBAGAI KATALIS
Abstract: An investigation to
study the degradation of cypermethrin in Ripcord 5 EC pesticide has been
carried out by ozonolysis method. Cypermethrin is an active compounds in the
group of pyrethroids and is found to be toxic not only for living things
classified as invertebrate but also for human life. Cypermethrin in Ripcord 5
EC pesticide is commonly used to control insects. To prevent cyphermethrin
contamination, the degradation by ozonolysis method using TiO2/Zeolite is
necessary. TiO2/Zeolite was synthesized by a reaction between TiO2 and
zeolite. Ozonolysis is one of many degradation methods for organic compounds by
using ozone (O3) that breaks the bond between C = C to produce the C = O bond.
The results were measured by UV-Vis spectrophotometer at wavelength areas of UV
(240-340 nm). The degradation of 10 mL cypermethrin (10 mg/L) by ozonolysis
without addition of catalysts was 47 % after 60 minutes while it was 73 % when
catalyzed by 20 mg of TiO2/Zeolite.
