Perbandingan Efektivitas Kombinasi Ekstrak Jahe dan Piridoksin dengan Piridoksin Saja dalam Mengurangi Keluhan Mual Muntah pada Wanita Hamil
Abstract: Nausea and
vomiting are the
most common symptoms
in pregnancy and
have affected 50-80% pregnant women. Ginger extract
(Zingiber Officinale Roscoe) has been known as a traditional anti nausea medication for
a long time.
This study aims
to compare the
efficacy of ginger
extract-pyridoxine medication and the pyridoxine only medication for
decreasing nausea and vomiting symptoms in women with under
3 months’ pregnancy.
A randomized controlled
prospective study was
conducted to 70 pregnant women with less than 10
gestasional weeks who had attended the antenatal care in Immanuel Hospital,
Bandung. The study group obtained 350 mg
ginger extract + 3.5 mg pyridoxine 2 times a day while the
control group obtained
25 mg pyridoxine
3 times a
day for 7
days. Nausea and
vomiting symptoms were measured using 3 scales (Rhodes Index, Likert
Scale, and Visual Analog Scale) from day 1 to 7. Ginger extract-pyridoxine
combination showed a better result with minimized nausea and vomiting symptoms, than
pyridoxine-only. The nausea
and vomiting symptoms
scale used in
the study showed statistically significant difference
(p<0.001).
