PEMANFAATAN ARANG AKTIF SEKAM PADI DENGAN AKTIVATOR NATRIUM KARBONAT (Na2CO3) 5 % UNTUK MENGURANGI KADAR BESI (Fe) DALAM AIR LEDENG

Abstract: Charcoal can be activated becomes a good absorber to reduce some chemical in the water or in the air. Some forestry and agricultural wastes can be process become charcoal by carbonizing. Hush is an agricultural waste and can be process become charcoal and then activated becomes activated charcoal. Fe content in public water drinking in Banjarbaru is higher than healthy standard, needed some treatments to decrease. Hush activated charcoal is used in this research to decrease Fe content in public drinking water. Flowing the public drinking water through the PVC pipe filled with activated charcoal is one way to decrease Fe content. There are  four treatments in this research; 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes and 40 minutes  flowing the water in the filled activated charcoal in the PVC pipe. Fe content before treatment is 0,17 ppm. The result of all treatments is 0 ppm of Fe in the water, is mean that 10 minutes flowing is enough time to neutralized Fe in the water. Recommendation is activated hush charcoal can be used to decrease or neutralized Fe content in drinking  water mostly high in Banjarbaru.
