PEMANFAATAN ARANG AKTIF KAYU RAMBAI (Sonneratia Acida Linn) DENGAN AKTIVATOR NATRIUM KARBONAT 5 % UNTUK MENURUNKAN KADAR BESI (Fe) DALAM AIR SUMUR

Abstract: The objectives of this research is to find out the effectiveness of  activated  Rambai wood (Sonneratia acida Linn) charcoal to decrease Fe content of digging well water in Banjarbaru. Factorial completely randomized design are applied on data analysis. Activator used in activating charcoal is 5 % Sodium carbonate. Two factors are activated charcoal concentration (8 %, 10 % and 12 %) and time adsorbing ( 4 hours and 6 hours). Fe content in the water before treatment is 2.6582 ppm. The best treatment is 4 hours adsorbing time with 10 % charcoal concentration, adsorbed 90.7 % (2.355 ppm) Fe content. 8 % charcoal concentration is not enough to decrease Fe content of the digging well water to be healthy drinking water (healthy standard for Fe content is less than 1.0 ml/l).
