INVENTARISASI KOMPOSISI JENIS DAN POTENSI TUMBUHAN SARANG SEMUT (MYRMECODIA SP) BERDASARKAN KARAKTERISTIK EKOLOGIS HABITATNYA DI KAWASAN HUTAN PEGUNUNGAN MERATUS KALIMANTAN SELATAN
Abstract: The research aims
to: 1) Acquire complete an accurate information on the type of ant-hive plant
and its potential source and host plants. 2) Compile data base of ant-hive
plants based on the factors of specific habitat. The information obtained is
expected to enable us to cultivate and preserve the also herbal plant. The data
base of ant-hive will be disseminated and can be used by the stakeholders. The
research resulth is as follows only one type of ant hive plant has been found,
recognized by the local people as “Angkis Putih”. The ant- hive is found to
attach to 17 types of host plants. On average the potential source of host
plants is 11,5 trees/ha and the number of ant- hive plant is 127/ha on average.
It can be concluded that there are 102.127 host plants and 1.127. 841 ant- hive
in Loksado subdistrict area. If on nature ant hive is estimated to weigh 3 kg
of fresh matter, the total amount in Loksado area will be about 3,4 tons of
fresh matter. The ecological characteristic of Loksado area consists of thinly
scattered bushes, forest vegetation and area of trees plantation 83,12% of
vegetational area can become the potential source as habitat ant- hive. The
distribution of ant- hive is of irregular pattern, where the sport of habitat
area around the village of Ulang, Haratai, Kamawakan and Mentai. Most of the
habitats lie on the lover slopes of hilly terrain and by small rivers, not
farther than 150 m of rivers.It has also beeb found that factors of ant- hive
existence area tempera soil moisture. Ant-hive flourishes on the site of low
light intensity, low temperature high humidity and sufficient moisture of soil.
This condition is usually found under dense forest canopy.
