Kepentingan Bisnis dan Politik dalam Penentuan Berita Utama di Banten Raya Pos
ABSTRACT: Headlines in the
mass media will reflect the image and ideology of the newspaper. Determination
of the headlines in the mass media would be associated with various interests,
for example economic and political interests. This research is to determine how
the editors choose which news went up to be printed. How the editorial process
at Banten Raya Pos in determining attitude toward the headlines. The results
showed that the role of business and political interests of journalists in the
determination of the headlines in Banten Raya Pos is not so great, because the
biggest decisions is in the hand of editor. From the business side, many
advertisers do not influence the selection of news that went to press, because
of the editors and the different interests of the company. In terms of
politics, there are many other interests that affect the independence of Banten
Raya Pos, such as internal corporate and political interests of the government.
Banten Raya Pos still has loopholes for outsiders to change the company's
existing editorial decisions about news that will be published. Advice given is
the lack of involvement of business interests in the selection of news should
be retained, but the political interests of the outside of the duties and
functions of journalism and those which can damage the independence of the
media must be removed, to keep its functions and duties.
