STUDI TENTANG POSISI KKN-PPL DALAM DINAMlKA PERKEMBANGAN PERGURUAN TINGGI DAN TUNTUTAN MASYARAKAT
Abstract: This article
concerns a reposItIOn study on the KKN-PPL program conducted in the development
of a dynamic university in relation to community needs, which had three
important objectives, (1) to gain information of the effectiveness of the
KKN-PPL program in relation to the university curriculum implementation, (2) to
gain information of resistance occurring during the implementation of the
KKN-PPL integrated program, and (3) to describe stakeholders' perceptions of
information about the KKNPPL program hosted by the State University of
Yogyakarta. The study was a policy research, in which several factors supporting
or resisting an effective implementation of the KKN-PPL were analyzed and
described intensively by using a descriptive exploratory method to discover
patterns of theory based on a set of data scores.
The study on the repositioning of the KKN-PPL program in the development of
a dynamic university in relation to community needs produces three important
recommendations. Firstly, it is possible that the KKN-PPL program is to be
conducted separately in order to obtain its specific objectives, the KKN
program, essentially a program to make students learn from experience in doing
public service for the community, to be specifically for students with nonteacher
majors and PPL, essentially a program of field teaching practice, to be for
students majoring in teaching. The management of the KKN program used to be
essentially by LPM, a public service institution in the university, and the
administration ofPPL used to be essentially by UPPL, a university unit managing
students' field teaching practice. Therefore, secondly, the manager of the KKN program
and that of the program of PPL is to be returned to its former function. This
recommendation is aligned to a historical aspect of conducting the KKN program
within a three-month duration on location. Thirdly, alternatively, the
integrated KKN-PPL program is to be continually handled at UNY by enhancing its
mechanism system into a more efficient and effective one.
