RESPON MASYARAKAT INTERNASIONAL TERHADAP PELANGGARAN HAK ASASI MANUSIA (HAM) DI SUDAN SELATAN PASCA REFERENDUM TAHUN 2011
Abstract: The conflict in
South Sudan began on December 2013 when president Salva Kiir Mauardit sacked
his entire cabinet and accused vice president Riek Machar of instigating a
failed coup. The conflict resulted in serious human rights violations so that
caused a reaction from the international society. Human Right, Human Security
concept and English School Theory as conceptual framework are used to answer
the reseach question. The results showed that since the conflict between the
president and former vice president of South Sudan, about 1.6 million people
continued to be displaced from their homes within the country, and some 600,000
sought refuge in neighbouring countries. The conflict also makes Human Rights
abuses such as: Attacks against civilians, Rape and sexual harassment, Mass
murder, Torture, mutilation and cannibalism, Abduction and recruitment of
childrens as armed forces. Human Rights violations in South Sudan makes a
response from International Society including the UN Security Council members
such as the United States and China. United States sanctioned arms embargo and
threatened to revoke its aid funding to the South Sudan, meanwhile China has
sent 700 military troops to South Sudan to help the UN peacekeeping force in
order to stop Human Rights violations in South Sudan.
