KARAKTERISTIK SARANG DAN TINGKAH LAKU KEPITING KENARI (Birgus latro) DI PULAU MARATUA KECAMATAN MARATUA, KABUPATEN BERAU
ABSTRACT: This research aim to
studying den hole condition and behaviour of Birgus latro in Maratua Island, Berau,
East Borneo. Perception conducted in September - December 2014. The method in
this research is descriptive method with field observation technique and
laboratory to know Birgus Latro’s behaviour and situation of den hole. The
behaviour are gestures, eating behaviour, free time, social and individual. The
result indicate that birgus latro's behaviour who has highest proportion in
three session are free time and gestures.The result of measurement in fourth
location, the situation of den hole known the deep hole distance is 156 cm and
short distance is 52 cm in Bulingisan Island, with wide-high diameter of den in
Payung-Payung with L= 41 T cm= 43 cm., for the range of den hole temperature
from 28-29°C. The condition of vegetasi in Maratua Island that is including
coastal forest formation where coconut vegetasi still enough abundance.
