ABSTRACT: Freshwater pearl
mussel commonly resulted from Hyriopsis Schlegeli, H. cumingii, Margaritifera
margaritifera and Anodonta implicata. Freshwater mussel Anodonta woodiana, Lea.
has similar morphology with Hyriopsis sp. So that it can be used to produce
pearl. The purpose of this research was to know: (1) Biology, ecology and
physiology aspects of pearl mussel Anodonta woodiana, Lea. (2) Growth and
reproduction of the pearl mussel. This research was conducted at Fish Health
Laboratory, BBPBAT Sukabumi for 3 months from Desember 2008 until Pebruary 2009,
