UPAYA PENINGKATAN GAYA ANGKAT PADA MODEL AIRFOIL DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN VORTEX GENERATOR

ABSTRACT: Aerodynamic characteristics of a test object is very important in the field of aerodynamics applications intended to obtain aerodynamic shapes. This study aims to determine how much influence the vortex generator to lift and drag force on airfoil models of an airplane.
In this study apply the experimental method to create the conditions of a model airplane wing. The object of research using the two types of models wings, with vortex generators and without vortex generators. Both models were tested in the wind tunnel and then retrieved object data through observation, literature and interviews. All the data obtained are analyzed and discussed.
The results showed the larger lift and drag on the airfoil model with vortex generator than the lift and drag on the airfoil model that does not use a vortex generator.
