ANALISIS POTENSI PEMBANGKIT LISTRIK BIOGAS BERBASIS LIMBAH CAIR PABRIK KELAPA SAWIT STUDI KASUS PKS PT INTAN SEJATI ANDALAN, RIAU

ABSTRACT: Riau is a province which had a deficit of electricity. Based on 2014 PLN statistic data, Riau and Riau Island Region peak load reached 261.02 MW, while installed power plant capacity of 166.62 MW capable power only 98.70 MW. This causes frequent rolling blackouts in the Riau city and its surrounding. On the other hand, Riau has huge renewable energy sources derived from palm oil industry. Palm Oil Mill (POM) are scattered throughout the region of Riau, where the plant produces liquid waste called Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). POME has the potential to be converted into biogas, which can then be used as fuel in a gas engine to drive generators and produce power.The purpose of this research is to analyze the the potential of biogas power plants with a case study of PT Intan Sejati Andalan Palm Oil Mill (ISA POM) located in Bengkalis, Riau. The research method is to take the factory production data are then used to determine the amount of POME produced. The potential of biogas contained in POME tested in the laboratory to determine the organic content in POME that can be converted into biogas. Furthermore, the biogas production projections, based on production data, to determine the feasibility of the construction of biogas plants in the ISA POM. The results showed that ISA POM has excellent performance, with a installed capacity of 60 tonnes TBS/hour and the plant availability of more than 99%. The average POME flow is 22,55 m3/h with the temperature 33-45oC. The test results the COD content of POME 62,000 mg/l that could produce CH4 content in biogas of 489,3 m3CH4/hour. CH4 has calorific value of 8,900 kcal/l with the assumption of the generation efficiency of 35%, the obtained electric potential is 1.773 kW.
