KEPADATAN DAN KEANEKARAGAMAN PLANKTON DI PERAIRAN MANGETAN KANAL KABUPATEN SIDOARJO PROVINSI JAWA TIMUR DARI DAERAH HULU, DAERAH TENGAH DAN DAERAH HILIR BULAN MARET 2014
ABSTRACT: This research
aimed to know
the density and
diversity of plankton
at Mangetan Canal from headwaters to downstream area in March 2014. This
study is located in
Mangetan Canal, Sidoarjo,
East Java Province
. Plankton sampling conducted in
nine sampling stations
representing Mangetan Canal
waters. The type of
plankton found in
the research area
as many as 26 species
of phytoplankton from 7
classes of Chlorophyceae, Bacillariophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Fragilariophyceae, Ulvophyceae,
Coleochaetophyceae, Charophyceae
and 8 species
of zooplankton from
4 classes of
Phyllopoda, Maxillopoda, Ostracod, Monogononta. The results showed that
the highest density of
phytoplankton in March
is in the
upstream reaches as
much as 183 plankton/mL. Diversity
index of phytoplankton
in the upstream,
midstream and downstream Mangetan
Canal each of
6594, 5005 and
9664. Phytoplankton dominance index
value in the
flow Mangetan Canal
ranged between 1149-1927. While the highest zooplankton
densities are found in the upstream and midstream three plankton/mL.
Zooplankton diversity index upstream-downstream Mangetan Canal ranging between
2581-2646 . Dominance index value of zooplankton in the flow Mangetan Canal
ranges between 2.0833-2.084
