ISOLASI MIKROALGA DARI PERAIRAN AIR TAWAR DI ALIRAN SUNGAI DAERAH LUBUK MINTURUN YANG BERPOTENSI UNTUK PRODUKSI BIODIESEL
Abstract: Research to
isolate from freshwater
microalgae in the
river bottom area
Minturun potential for biodiesel
production has been
carried out. Of
the isolated using
the dilution method
obtained two species of
microalgae which allegedly
is Scenedesmus and
Scenedesmus dimorphus quadricaudamelalui observation
by light microscopy
at a magnification
of 400 times.
Both of these species
perpendaran light using
nile red staining
method under the
microscope flouroscence showing lipid production potential. From these
observations S. dimorphus provide brighter
glow that indicate
higher levels of
lipids. Further extraction
conducted on this
species using water and
hexane solvent to
obtain crude extract
lipids. Lipids were
obtained later in the
trans-esterification using an
acid catalyst and
a base. Trans-esterification results
were analyzed using gas
chromatography mass spectrometry
(GC-MS) and identified
10 types of
fatty acid methyl esters which
have potential as a biodiesel.
