ISOLASI DAN KARAKTERISASI SENYAWA TRITERPENOID DARI EKSTRAK HEKSANA PADA KULIT BATANG ASHOKA (Polyalthia longfolia)
Abstract: Isolation of
triterpenoid compounds from
the bark of
Ashoka (Polyalthia longifolia)
was performed. Ashoka bark
powder was extracted
by maceration method
using solvent hexane,
ethyl acetate and methanol. Hexane extract was separated
using column chromatography with hexane as mobile phase and ethyl acetate in
Step Gradient Polarity (SGP) continued recolumn chromatography with isocratic manner. The
result compuond in the form
of needles crystals
with melting point
of 138-139°C and the specific test using
Liebermann-Burchard reagent (LB) gives a single red stain with various degrees polarity of
the eluent, indicating
that the isolated
compounds was pure
and including of triterpenoids. UV spectra data showed no conjugated double bonds and IR spectra data showed the presence of the -OH
functional group at wave number 3429.30 cm-1. The wave number 2934.30 cm-1 indicated
the peak -CH stretching, while the C = O at 1709.46 cm-1, and the geminal
dimethyl group which is a specific absorption of triterpenoid compound shown in
the area 1382.16 cm-1.toxicity test with brine shrimps method showed that the
hexane crude gives high power toxicity.
