PERBEDAAN HASIL TANGKAPAN BELAT PADA WAKTU SIANG DAN MALAM HARI DI PERAIRAN TANJUNG LAUT INDAH KECAMATAN BONTANG SELATAN KOTA BONTANG
ABSTRACT: The coastal
area of South
Bontang, Bontang City
is one of
the waters which
possesses fishery potentials and
provides fishery resource
contributions to the
community surrounding the
area. Until now, there are still a lot of fishermen in Bontang who use
traditional fish catcher equipment, one of which is what is called belat. Belat
is passive catcher equipment, which makes use of tide fluctuations in it is operation and this catcher equipment also
makes use of fish behaviors such as their migration to the beach during the
high tides, both at night and during the day and returning back to the sea
during the low tide. This research aims to find out the difference in catch
results using belat at
nights and during
the days. This
research was conducted
in Tanjung Laut
Indah waters in Bontang City from April 1 to May 3, 2014. The sample was
taken for 30 days in different times, namely at nights and during the days. The
data were analyzed by using T-test to find out whether the
results of catches
were significantly or
insignificantly different between
during the nights and during the
days. The result of the research showed that there were 18 types of catches during
the days and 16 types of catches during the nights. The types of fish that were
not caught in the nights were Common Ponyfish and Six Spine Butterflyfish. The
total catches during the days were
1981 fish and
the total fish
caught during the
nights were 2248
fish. The total
weight of catches during the
days was
344296 gram and
the total weight
of catches during the night was 380045 gram. Based on the result of analysis
using T-test and using the data of the total number of individual fish, it was
found that tcomputed
-0.47 ≤ ttable 2.021 at
0.05 level of significance
and the result of statistical test based on the total weight of catches
showed that tcomputed was lower than ttableat 0.05 level of significance.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the results of catches using belat during
the nights and during the days were not significantly different.
