UPAYA BORNEO ORANGUTAN SURVIVAL (BOS) DALAM KONSERVASI ORANGUTAN DI KALIMANTAN TIMUR MELALUI PROGRAM SAMBOJA LODGE
Abstract: Orangutan is one of
many species that included into endangered category. There are many factors
that contribute to it’s rapid population decrease, such as hunting, illegal
logging, and illegal mining. As the world see orangutan’s life is threatened in
daily basis, there are some that still paying attention to orangutan’s wellfare
and do something to make it better. One of them is Borneo Orangutan Survival
(BOS). BOS is an international organization that concern to orangutan issue,
especially Borneo orangtuan (pongo pymaeus pygmaeus). BOS activities range from
rehabilitation of rescued orangutan to forest plantation.
In 2007 BOS launched a program called Samboja Lodge. Samboja Lodge is an
eco-tourism program that offers education as well as a recreation regarding the
life of orangutan. This program was launched in order to assist BOS
conservation activities for Borneo orangutan.
