PERANAN DUKUNGAN ORANG TUADENGAN KEPUTUSAN MEMILIH JURUSAN DI PERGURUAN TINGGI PADA SISWA KELAS XII SMA KATOLIK W.R. SOEPRATMAN SAMARINA
ABSTRACT: This study sought to
determine the problem of the "Role of Parental Support to Decision
Choosing Majors in Collegein the Senior High School on 12th grade at Catholic
High School of WR Soepratman Samarinda”.
The researcher used the qualitative method, it isbased on the formulation
of the problem that happening this study shall berequires researchers to
conduct exploration activities in order to understand and explain the
phenomenon that is the focus ofthe research problem, namely the role ofparental
supportin decisionto choose a majorin college. The technique of collecting data
was used since the interviews. This research was conducted at the Catholic High
School of W.R.Soepratman Samarinda on the three students as subject were
selected purposively. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative data,
which describe the intended descriptive study phenomenon that occuring many
more situations, especially with regarding to the problem of study.The
collected data was then analyzed using data analysis techniques with
interactive model analysis tools of Milles and Huberman.
The purpose of this study was todetermine the role ofparental support
with the decision to choose a majorin college and to find out how you can help
support students to making decisions.
The results ofthis study indicate that the decisionto choose a majorin
college is based onthe consideration aspect, courage and responsibility. The
three students stated that aspects of their decision-making has een passed, and
after seeing the form of support from parents, the three students decided to
take one stepin choosing majors in college that aspect of consideration.
