MANAJEMEN KONFLIK FILIPINA-MALAYSIA DALAM MENANGANI SENGKETA WILAYAH SABAH (KESULTANAN SULU)
Abstract: Dispute of Sabah
region emerged because of the smuggled action that done by the Sulu militant
considered as the Kingdom Sulu of Sultanate. These militants came into Sabah
region with the purpose to take the region that has been fought by Sulu and
Malaysia. The Sabah region is part of Malaysia sovereignity, but according to
Sulu opinion Sabah region was their ancestor’s land since ages ago. Overlapping
claim has began since years ago and all efforts to minimalize conflict met some
dententioned and caused the conflict became latent conflict. Today, some
actions emerged from the Sulu of Sultanate has been trying to attack trough
smuggling. This action was response by Philippine and Malaysia to handle the
conflict. The conflict management efforts done for the sake of bilateral
relations of the two countries and to minimalize any unnecessary actions that
can trigger the open conflict. The result showed that the efforts established
from both party to minimalize conflict from escalate to the next phase, which
is from stable peace, confrontation to crisis with failure risked. This caused
by the process that has been done and resulted in failure that is why the
conflict cannot be resolved until today.
