KERJASAMA SAFTA (SOUTH ASIA FREE TRADE AREA) DI KAWASAN ASIA SELATAN
ABSTRACT: This study used
descriptive, described how the role of SAFTA to improved the economy in South
Asia. This study used two theory there are, regional cooperation theory and
trade liberalization theory.
Based on the result of this research, the role of SAFTA to improved the
economy in South Asia are: 1) as a facilitator are, to encourage and
facilitated each member to establish a means of transportation and
communication systems to streamline the cost of intra -regional trade of South
Asia. 2) to improved the interaction region with the other region are, SAFTA
provides as opportunity for foreign investors from outside and within the
region to be able to invest, in this way the expected intermediate states could
rise and would compete with other countries that are more advanced. 3) to
enhancing the economy through trade Liberalization Program are, Countries
belonging to the developed countries were given for 5 years for the release
rate to 0% (free), while for lower intermediate state given 8 years to free the
rates. It is issued every time approved by the member states.
