DAMPAK PENERAPAN KEBIJAKAN MORATORIUM BAGI TKI KE ARAB SAUDI OLEH PEMERINTAH INDONESIA
Abstract: Indonesiaisone of
themanycountries thatsendworkers. Of the manycountries of destination, the most
desiredstateof Indonesian workersisSaudi Arabia. A large number ofworkers
employedin SaudiArabia, themanyproblems facedbythe workersthere. However,
betweenIndonesiaandSaudi Arabiathere is no agreementwith MoU(Memorandum of
Understanding) on the protection ofmigrantworkers, thusmaking`organizations,
such as theMigrant Careandmember ofCommissionIX ofthe House of
Representativesurged theIndonesiangovernmenttoimplementa moratorium onmigrant
workers. Through variousprocesses, thenonAugust 1, 2011the Indonesian
government imposeda moratorium onsending workers toSaudi Arabia.
The implementation of the moratorium workers to Saudi Arabia by the
Indonesian government is not only positive and negative impact for Indonesia
but also for Saudi Arabia. The impact of the moratorium for Indonesia is the
reduced number of foreign workers who worked in Saudi Arabia, but in the case
of Indonesia benefited humanity, namely the reduction of the problems
experienced by migrant workers in Saudi Arabia.While theimpact ofthe
moratoriumforSaudi Arabiaisunrestfor service usersworkers whohave to dotheir
ownhousework, althoughin terms ofthegovernmentandlaw enforcement officials
therewasbenefitedby reducingtheirburdenin tackling the problemsof
migrantworkersin their countries.
