Abstract: Security threats
contained in the
ASEAN region such
as the issue
of border disputes, competition
over resources and
energy, terrorism, human
rights and democracy, narcotics,
piracy, human trafficking,
money laundering, illegal logging, up to natural disasters. To
overcome it not possible for a Member State expects full support from other
countries. ASEAN also has no special forces to help manage
these issues and
maintaining regional security,
so that ASEAN does
not guarantee the
national security of
every country members.
With that each member
state requires a
powerful military force
in order to
anticipate security threats and in
order to
create a national
security. To create
a capable military force
every state did
increase in the
military budget that
is used to strengthen
military capabilities. Increased
military capabilities is
intended to maintain the
territorial integrity and national security. In addition to creating a safe
area with deterrence strategy, which requires a large military force. But it makes other
countries look to be a
security threat to
the country to
regional security, then any
further encourage countries
to further increase
its military strength in terms of
quantity and quality that could lead to an arms race in the region and will
become a new regional threat.
