ABSTRACT: The learning
achievement reflects the
learning results. It
can be measured
through learning evaluation such
as summative test, which can determine the Achievement Index (GPA) (Winkel, 1999;
93). The achievement index in Midwifery Care for Mother (Childbed) of the 40
students in Semester IV
of Harapan Mulya
Midwifery Academy of
Ponorogo based on
the learning evaluation falls into the
three categories: Very
Good (40.8%), Good
(58%), Fair (1.2%). Meanwhile, the
achievement index of the
44 students in
Semester III falls into
two categories, namely: Very
Good (81.2%) and
Good (18.8%). Although
the learning achievement
of the students is
very good on
average, the researchers
is interested in
conducting a study
to investigate whether there is a correlation of the perception on the
learning process quality and the
learning interest towards
the learning achievement
in Midwifery Care
for Mothers as the
subject is a very dominant one for the midwifery students. The
research used an
observational analytical research
method with a
cross-sectional approach. Its population was all of the 44 students in
Semester III of Harapan Mulya Midwifery Academy
of Ponorogo in
the academic year
of 2010/2011. The
samples of the
research were taken by
using a total
sampling technique. The
data of the research were analyzed
by using a simple correlation analysis, a multiple
correlation analysis, and a multiple regression analysis at the significance
level of 0.05.
The results of
the analysis show
that (1) there
is a correlation
between the learning
process quality and the learning
achievement in Midwifery Care
for Mothers III/Childbed at Harapan Mulya Midwifery Academy of Ponorogo
as indicated by tcount = 5.231 at the significance level of 0.000; (2) there is
a correlation between the learning interest and the learning achievement in Midwifery
Care for Mothers III/Childbed at Harapan Mulya Midwifery Academy of Ponorogo as
shown by tcount = 4.509 at the significance level of 0.000; and (3) the
learning process quality and the learning interest simultaneously influence the
learning achievement in Midwifery Care for Mother III/Childbed at Harapan Mulya
Midwifery Academy of Ponorogo as pointed out by tcount =
3.646 at the
significance level of
0.001 at X1,
and by tcount
= 2.791 at
the significance level of 0.008
at X2 respectively.
Based on the
results of the
analysis, conclusions are
drawn that (1)
there is a
positive and significant
correlation between the learning process quality and the learning achievement;
(2) there is a
positive and significant
correlation between the
learning interest and
the learning achievement; and
(3) there is a simultaneously positive
and significant correlation
of the learning process quality
and the learning interest towards the learning achievement.
