KEEFEKTIFAN TEKNIK DISKUSI MODEL TIME TOKEN UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENGEMUKAKAN PENDAPAT PADA SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 25 SURAKARTA TAHUN AJARAN 2014/2015
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this
research was to examine the effectiveness of time tokenmodel discussion
technique to improve the ability to share thoughts of the eighth grade students
of SMP Negeri 25 Surakarta.
This research was an experimental research. Furthermore, in order to
examine the effectiveness of Time Token model discussion technique,
Quasi-Experimental Non Equivalent Control Group Design, which was a research
utilizing two groups which each functioned as experimental group and control
group, was used. It was conducted by giving pretest to both groups, giving
treatment to experimental group, and at last giving posttest to both groups so
that the result of the two groups could be compared.
Data collection technique used was questionnaire on the ability to share
thoughts. Subject selection technique used was purposive sampling. The
treatment given was by giving the students talking voucher when the students
were going to share their thoughts, which was done in three meetings. The
subject of this research was the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25
Surakarta in the academic year of 2014/ 2015. The result of questionnaire
validity examination showed that there were several valid items. The data
analysis was conducted by using SPSS 16 application with Mann Whitney and
Wilcoxon non-parametric test.
Based on the hypothesis test by Wilcoxon non-parametric test in the
posttest of experimental and control groups with 0.05% significance level,
0.000 significance score was obtained showing that there was a difference in
the ability to share thoughts between the experimental group and the control
group before and after the treatment was given. The result of hypothesis test
by using Mann Whitney showed that the significancescore of pretest-posttest of
the experimental group was 0.001 which meant that there was a difference on the
ability to share thoughts in the experimental group after the treatment was
given. Therefore, it could be concluded that time tokenmodel discussion
technique to improve the ability to share thoughts of the eighth grade students
of SMP Negeri 25 Surakarta in the academic year of 2014/ 2015.
