KAJIAN NILAI-NILAI BIMBINGAN PADA PERAN TOKOH SEMAR DALAM WAYANG PURWA UNTUK KEPERLUAN PEMBIMBINGAN PESERTA DIDIK SMP
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this
study was to (1) describe the guidance values contained on the role of Semar in
shaddow puppet show, (2) describe the suitability of guidance values and the
role of Semar in guiding junior high students.
This research was a qualitative descriptive study. This study examined
the role of Semar because Semar’s role in guiding knights in puppet was
identical with guidance counselor’s role in guiding learners. The source of the
data were from some informants, serat lampahan pedhalangan, and taped documents
of puppet show stories. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling.
Data collection techniques used were in-depth interviews and documents analysis.
The validity of the data used was triangulation sources.
The study found that the role of Semar in shadow puppet contained the
elements of guidance values which included: (1) providing assistance, (2)
providing encouragement and motivation to the individual towards spirit of
self-optimalization, (3) providing guidance without force, (4) providing
guidance for everyone, (5) providing direction, (6) guiding continuously and
directedly towards the purpose, (7) trying to develop the courage to act and be
responsible, (8) encouraging individuals to become self-sufficient, (9) helping
individuals overcome the problems, and (10) directing the individuals to a
better solution. Furthermore, it was also found that there was values
compatibility of guidance role Semar in guiding junior high students. In
carrying out his role of nurturing knights, Semar fulfilled the values that
should be owned by the counselor in implementing guidance and counseling
services. As a tutor, Semar implemented the guiding role of facilitative,
constructive, and solutions. Tutor could imitate the guidance values of Semar
to be applied in carrying out the role of a counselor at school.
