Identification of fatty acid compotition in turi seed oil (Sesbania grandiflora (L) Pers)
ABSTRACT: The fatty acids
compotition in turi seed oil (Sesbania grandiflora (L) Pers) has been done. On
the first step to make use its as standard substance of biodiesel. The dry
powder of turi seeds was continued extraction by the soxh let set for about 7 hours on 60-700C with
n-heksan solvent. The randement product of turi seed oil was 9.79% w/w from weight of
turi seed. The
fatty Acid of
triglycerides was the
analyzed with GC-MS
operated on 150-2900C by temperature
increase 100C / 5 minutes, mobile phase was helium gas running on 10
Kpa, Stationary phase was CP -SiL 5 CB 25 m length and detector used in GC-MS
was FID. Based on the GC-MS peaks fited with data base fragmentation of each
the peak could be concluded that the fatty acid of the triglycerides were
palmitic acid (14.25%), linoleic acid (39.13%), elaidic acid (39.13%), stearic acid (13.97%) and arachidic
acid (39.13%) with the weight molecule of triglyserides in turi seed oil was
872.769 w/mole and it showed was liquid on the room temperature and black to
yellow color.
