DOWRY MURDER: KEKERASAN SIMBOLIK TERHADAP PEREMPUAN DI INDIA
Abstract: This article
attempts to explain the phenomenon of dowry murder as a form of violence
against women in
India. Differ from
bride price practiced
in Indonesia, dowry in India is a wedding gift in the form of money as
well as other goods given by the bride’s family to the groom’s
family.The writers analyze this article by using radical feminism perspective.
This perspective argues that patriarchy
system prevailing in
India has contributed
a lot to the domination of men over women. This
domination is supported by dowry system
in India’n marriage which leads the women to be the victims of symbolic
violence.
