Kebijakan DOWNSIZING: Penyebab dan Dampak yang Ditimbulkannya

Abstract: The  change  economic,  politics  and  social  situation  in  a  state  will  give  the influence  life  of  inclusive  also  at  the  organization.  Organizational  will respon in various way to the change. For strong organization, change will be  considered  to  be  a  challenge  to  become  better,  whereas  other organization  possibly  will  lessen  the  promotion,  increase  price  of  the product and even do organizational downsizing. Especial  target  of  organization  is  reaching  for  advantage,  where  if  the condition  change,  hence  company  will  do  all  ways  and  means  to  maintain the target. One of its strategy is downsizing.
This  case  examplize  at  case  downsizing  at  wood  industry  in  Samarinda done because reason of raw material difficulty, production cost increase, profitability  and  in  efficiency  of  engine.  Second  case  is  downsizing  at  PT. Bouraq  Airlines  done  because  reason  of  global  competitive  and  financial problem.  The  impact  of  these  cases  is  different  between  first  case  and second case. In first case, downsizing will influence the district situation.
Unskilled and  unexperience employment will increasesocial  problem such as criminality, prostitution and drugs circulation. One  of  the  government  efforts  to  solve  this  problem is  unemployment training. Organization  help  for  better  human  resource  planning  and budgeting the allowance of the retirement if downsizing happen.
