Abstract: The clinical practice for nursing education
today still has complex problems. Clinical
instructors have important
role for continuation
of development of nursing profession. Emergency department has unique
nature where overload workforce
and it requires
challenges for nurses
to become clinical instuctors.
The purpose of this study was to reveal the phenomenon of clinical instructor’s
experience in emergency
department. Qualitative approach
with an interpretive phenomenology based on Heidegger philosophy through
unstructured interview techniques was used in this study. Methodsof data analysis
applied in this
study was based
on Van Manen.
The samples selected in this study
consisted of five
participants. The result
of this study indicated one
core theme in
term of moral
burden on the
part of clinical instructors. This
core theme was
generated from two
major themes, namely incompetence in
providing maximal guiding
efforts and taking
responsibility for passing on the credibility for the future nurses. The
results of this research is important to be taken by educational institutions,
in order to preparing their students before entering
clinical practice into
ED and communincating effectively to
clinical instructor at
practical setting. Subsequently recommended for
practical setting to
promote their role
as educational hospital as
increase human quality source clinical instructors.
