PENGARUH NORMALISING PASCA COLDWORKING PADA BAJA KARBON

ABSTRACT: Metal forming processes relating with dimensional  changes and micro structure of the metal material.  One type  ofmetal  forming  processis  the  coldworkingprocess,  the  metal  forming  processunder thecrystallizationtemperature.  Carbon  steelis  ametalmaterialwhichhas  many advantages to the  use ofenginecomponentswho  needhigh  strength,  hightemperature  resistant,able  toformandgoodmachineable. Meanwhilethe  normalizingheat  treatmentisa  processthat  aimstoeliminatethestressandmake thefinegrainmicrostructuredueprocesscoldworkingon steel.This study aims to determine the change in microstructure  and  mechanical  properties  of  carbon  steel  and  the  effect  of  variation  holding  time  after  the coldworking process.
Material scold working process conducted in this studyisa lowcarbon steelwith anormalizingprocessat a temperature  of 890° Candholding  time variation  of10minutes,  30minutesand50minutes.  The  changesmaterial propertiesare known from observations microstructure, hardnesstestandpressure test (bending).
Research  results  showthatthehardnessvalue  ofthe  materialnormalizingdecreasedcompared torawmaterialorthe materialforming  withoutnormalizing,  in addition totheproperties  ofits ductility increases with the ferritegra instructure that is getting bigger and homogeneous at the time that the longer lasting normalizing
