PENAMBAHAN LAPISAN PASIR PADAT SEBAGAI SOLUSI MASALAH PENURUNAN FONDASI DI ATAS LAPISAN LEMPUNG LUNAK : SUATU STUDI MODEL

ABTRACT: Settlement  and  bearing  capacity  is  a  problem  in  the  construction  of  foundation  on  soft  clay  layer.  The addition  of  a  dence  sand  layer  under  the  foundation  is  able  to  reduce  magnitude  of  the  settlement  and improve bearing capacity  on soft soil.  This study aims to determine the effect of the thickness of the sand layer under the foundation againt the type of soil shear failure an d load-settlement curves. Static loading is done on the 6 x 6 cm 2 and 9 x 9 cm2 foundation model. The thickness of the sand layer is 0, 1/6 B, 1/3 and ½ B. The  results  showed  the  addition  of  B  ½  thick  layer  of  sand  under  the  foundation  increase  soil  bearing capacity 221% for the foundation model 6 x 6 cm2 and 120% for the foundation model 9 x 9 cm2. General shear failure occurs in the thickness of the sand layer ½ the addition of B.
