PENGARUH MEDIA PENDINGIN DAN KONDISI PEMOTONGAN LOGAM TERHADAP KEKASARAN PERMUKAAN PADA PROSES MILLING MENGGUNAKAN MESIN CNC TYPE VMC 200

ABSTRACT: There are many factors influencing the quality of products that are produced from milling machine process. The quality is mostly dealt with the surface roughness which is not in accordance with specifications that are required. Those influencing factors are the selection of cutting patameter regulation, for example, the speed of milling process and cutting, and selection of the cutting depth. Others factors are quality of tool life, cooling media and etc. The product quality on surface roughness can gained by varying the regulation of cutting parameter selection. The speeds for cutting are 43 m/min, 55 m/min dan 72 m/min, while the feed rate are 40 mm/min, 60 mm/min and 85 mm/min. The cooling media to be applied is air, with the ratio of water cooling media is 1:30 and 1:60. The type of machine used is CNC Type CMC 200 and surface tester devices used to measure roughness of cutting process result. Of mesasurement result, it can be seen that cooling media influence the surface roughness very much. The relationship between surface roughness and cooling media is SRair = 4.207 v-0.69 f0.45 water and cooling media is and SRidemitsu (1:60) = 1995.2 v-1.38 f-0.46.
