OPTIMALISASI VARIASI TEGANGAN DAN WAKTU TERHADAP KETEBALAN DAN ADHESIVITAS LAPISAN PADA PLAT BAJA KARBON RENDAH DENGAN PROSES ELECTROPLATING MENGGUNAKAN PELAPIS SENG

Abstract: This research investigates the optimization of zinccoating by varying the voltage (2, 4, 6, and 8 V) and time (10, 20, 30, and 40 minute), to find out the best plating based of the thickness and adhesion. The chatode is mild steel by 30 mm in length, 100 mm in width, and 2.5 mm in height. Electrolyte solution was  composed  of  sodium  hydroxide  420  grams,  zinc  oxide  97.5  grams, rochelle  salt  9.75  grams,  and  aquades  1  litre.  Measurement  of  coating thicknesses  was  using  coating  thickness  measuring  instrument  dualscope MPOR  and  based  on  ASTM  B  499.  Qualitative  adhesion  testing  of  zing coating was based on ASTM B 571-97.The best platingproperties, such as the deposit thickness and adhesion, is obtained at 6 V and 20 minutes.
