TEKNOLOGI PEMBUATAN BALOK SUSUN KAYU KOMPOSIT BERUKURAN BESAR DARI BALOK-BALOK KAYU BERUKURAN PENDEK DAN KECIL

ABSTRACT: The  availability  of  large  wood    log  as  construction  material  is  extremely  decreasing  right  now.  On  the  other hand,  the  availability  of  small  and  short  wood  log  is  abundant.  The  aim  of  this  research  is  to    create  a  technology  to produce large wooden-beam using small wood logs which is combined with concrete slab.  Sixteen (16) specimen beams sized  50  mm  x  80  mm  x  2000  mm  were  used  in  this  research.  The  specimens  consisted  of  :  (i)  3  non-compound  whole wooden-beams, (ii) 3 compound whole wooden-beams (BUC), (iii) 3 non-compound multiple wooden-beams (BS), (iv) 3 multiple  wooden-beams  reinforced  with  8  mm  diameter  of  steel  (BSP),  and  (v)  4  compound  multiple  wooden-beams reinforced with 8 mm diameter of stell (BSCP). The dimension of concrete slab was 25 mm x 250 mm. The bolt with 6 mm diameter  was  used  as  connector  with  20  mm  left  as  shear  connector.  The  refraction  test  was  conducted  using    load controlled  method  by  placing  concentrated  load  on  the  middle  of  the  beam.  The  result  shows  that  the  multiple  beam capacity  is  increasing  significantly  after  combined  with  concrete  slab  and  reinforced  with  8  mm  diameter  of  steel,  i.e. 293%  (from  2788  N  become  10966  N).  Even  the  beam  stiffness  is  extremely  raising  about  695%  (from  45,15  N/mm become 358,2 N/mm). In addition, the life cycle of beam is more influenced by the deflection limit than the elastic load limit.  This  result  gives  evidence  that  technically,  large  structured  wooden-beam  produced  from  small  logs  has  similar capacity and performance compared with whole beam.
