PENGARUH PENGEKANGAN PADA ANALISIS MOMEN NOMINAL UNTUK PENGAMANAN KOLOM BETON BERTULANG TERHADAP KEGAGALAN GETAS GESER
ABSTRACT: SNI 03-2847-2002 code defines
the nominal shear
strength of a
structural member from
the nominal bending moments at
both ends of
the corresponding member.
This condition is
implemented in the
design to avoid
the shear failure against severe
earthquake. Ideally, the flexural failure in a member is expected to occur
prior to the brittle shear failure. However,
in the practical
design, the computed
nominal bending moments do
not include the
effects of confinement. Needless
to say, the existence of confinement in a structural member increases the its
flexural strength and the strength gain
primarily depends on
the amount of
confinement. Confinement as
one of the
effective solutions in enhancing the ductility of a member has
significant effects on the mode of failure of a member during large earthquake.
The increase of
flexural strength of
a member due
to confinement will
also increase the
shear capacity of the
corresponding member. If the increase of the nominal bending moment is not
taken into account during the calculation of the shear capacity of a member,
the brittle shear failure can take place prior to the preferable flexural
failure.
