PENGARUH POLA PENGERINGAN TERHADAP RENDEMEN DAN KUALITAS MINYAK ATSIRI DAUN NILAM (Pogostemon calbin Benth)
Abstract: Nilam oil produced
by refining Nilam (Pogostemon calbin
Benth) leaves and branches. The objectives of the research is to find out the
effect of drying on the quality of Nilam
oil (nilam oil content, patchouli alcohol content and cineol content). Three
drying methods are applied: fresh leaves (without drying), 1 week air drying
and 4 hours sun light drying. Steaming was applied on refining process.Result
of the research are sun light drying treatment produce highest oil content ( average 1.32 %), air drying treatment 0.83 % and fresh leaves
0.45 %. Patchouli alcohol content are 25.72 %, 29.43 % and 22.95 % respectively.
The highest patchouli alcohol content is air drying treatment. Cineol content
of nilam oil produced are 77.4 %, 62.5 % and 71.4 %. The highest cineol content
is fresh leaves treatment. Air drying treatment effected a better color on oil
produced. Based on this research air draying is the best treatment effected on
nilam oil quality.
