PENANGGULANGAN KADAR BESI (FE) AIR SUMUR MENGGUNAKAN ARANG AKTIF KAYU BAKAU (RHIZOPHORA MUCRONATA LAMCK) DENGAN AKTIVATOR NATRIUM KARBONAT 5 %
Abstract: The objectives of
this research were recognized the function of active-charcoal of Bakau Wood
(Rhizophora mucronata Lamck) to reduce iron level from well-water and the
capability in different amount of active-charcoal of Bakau Wood to adsorb of
iron from well-water. This research was
conducted in Laboratory of Forestry Faculty of Lambung Mangkurat University
Banjarbaru. The testing of result was carried on Laboratory of
BARISTAND INDAG Banjarbaru. The water sampel was taken from well-water
near Bapak Sukardjo house (RT 27, RW 17, No 24, Sumber Adi, Banjarbaru). The
amount of active-charcoal that apply in this research were
8% (4 gr), 10% (5 gr), and 12% (6 gr) of
total water sample was about 50 ml. The duration time of active-charcoal in
sampel were about 4 and 6 hours. The
adsorption of active-charcoal to iron particle were increased at the same time
with the incereasing of iron level. The
average adsorbtion of iron particle by active charcoal was the highest (2,6 ppm
or 97,89%) at the combination treatment between active-charcoal at 12% and the
duration time at 4 hours (the treatment of A3B1), Whereas, the lowest average adsorption of active-charcoal to iron
was about 2,2596 ppm or 85% in the treatment A1B2 (the combination treatment
between active-charcoal at 18% and the duration time at 6 hours). The A factor
(the concentration of active-charcoal) has the best fuction to adsorb the
iron particle than B factor (the
duration time). The addition of the active-charcoal concentration is affect
the incerasing of adsorbtion capabitity
of active-charcoal to iron particle, otherwise, with the increasing the
duration time, the adsorbtion capability
of active-charcoal to iron particle is decreasing. It shows that the
first value of well-water is 2,6582 ppm,
and after adsorbtion process, the value of well-water to be 0,3985-0,0561 ppm (the standard value of iron
in drinking water about 1,0 ml).
