PEMBERIAN PROBIOTIK YANG BERBEDA PADA PAKAN KOMERSIAL TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN RETENSI PROTEIN DAN SERAT KASAR PADA IKAN NILA (Oreochromis sp.)
Abstract: Tilapia (Oreochromis
sp.) is one of the most favourite consuming fish and included into ten
commodities which becoming target of aquaculture product increase in 2014 is
equal to 335 % (KKP, 2010). The production of Tilapia in 2008 is 291,037 ton
and increased to 378,300 ton in 2009. The average increase of Tilapia
production during the year 2008-2009 is about 29.98%. Therefore, target of
Tilapia production is increased from 378,300 ton in 2009 into 491,800 ton in
2010 (KKP, 2010).This research which is about the use of different probiotic in
commercial feed toward growth of protein retention and coarse fiber in Tilapia
(Oreochromis sp.) will be held on Teaching Laboratory Faculty of Marine and
Fisheries in June 2013.Probiotic is a live microbial agent which able to give
advantage to its host by modifying microbial community by associating to its
host, improving nutritional value of feed utilization, improving host response
toward the disease, and improving threshold environmental quality (Verschuere
et al. 2000). The working process of probiotic bacteria is producing enzymes
which function is to accelerate digestion process of the fish. One of the
probiotic bacteria is Lactobacillus sp. This bacteria is a kind of proteolytic
bacteria that can break down protein into amino acid (Fardiaz, 1992). The amino
acid is used for bacteria to multiply, so that, it can increase feed protein
and decrease coarse fiber (Schiegel and Schmidth, 1985). The application of
probiotic can be added to fish feed or culture tank and pond, in order to
prevent infection or pathogen attack. It is also often gain advantage in terms
of nutrition, especially when applied to the filter feeder organisms
(Verschuere et al., 2000)
