KEMAMPUAN KONSUMSI AYAM PEDAGING PADA RANSUM KOMERSIIL YANG DISUBSTITUSI DENGAN SOLID KELAPA SAWIT FERMENTASI

ABSTRACT: An experiment was conducted to study the ability of broilers to consume a diet substituted with palm oil sludge fermented with Saccaharomyces cerevisiae. The research was carried out in Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Fishery, and Marine Science, State University of Papua, Manokwari and the Laboratory of BPPT, Bogor. The experiment was conducted based on a completely randomized design using 80 broiler chickens at 3 weeks of age. They were assigned to 4 diets containing; 1). A commercial ration (CR) without fermented palm oil sludge (SKSF) as a control diet, 2). 95% CR + 5% SKSF, 3). 90% CR + 10% SKSF, and 4). 85% CR + 15% SKSF. Diets were fed ad libitum for 3 weeks. Variables measured were nutrient content (protein, crude fiber, energy) of the diets, feed consumption, protein, crude fiber and energy consumption. Results showed that the substitution of CR with SKSF up to 15% had no effect on protein content, but already declined energy content of the diets. Crude fiber content increased as the level of SKSF increased, but energy content, feed and energy consumption increased at substitution of CR with 10% SKSF. It is concluded that fermentation using Saccharomyces cerevisiae on palm oil sludge may not effective in increasing protein content, but effective in decreasing crude fibre content. The experiment indicated that the consumption ability of broiler chickens reached maximum at substitution of commercial ration with 10% SKSF.
