Radio Komunitas dan Disaster Risk Reduction: Studi Kasus Radio Lintas Merapi di Klaten Jawa Tengah dan Radio Angkringan di Yogyakarta
Abstract: According to UNESCO,
Indonesia was ranked the seventh of a number of countries most hit by natural
disasters. The high casualties and losses due to disasters, partly because the
public does not have enough information about the disaster. Therefore Disaster
Risk Reduction is an urgent act to do, with a focus on providing information
and communication. This paper seek to answer the question, how does the role of
community media in Disaster Risk Reduction in Yogyakarta and Central Java? This
paper showed that community radio has an important role in disaster risk
reduction, which were made before,
during and after the disaster. Various efforts to reduce the risk of disaster
were conducted, such as delivering continuous information on the activity of
Merapi or other disaster information. Easily understood local language made the
information reach spesific target and aim the goal of disaster risk reduction
itself.
