POLA KOMUNIKASI ANTAR PRIBADI KAUM HOMOSEKSUAL TEHADAP KOMUNITASNYA DI KOTA SERANG (Studi Fenomenologi Komunikasi Antarpribadi Komunitas Gay di Kota Serang Banten)
ABSTRACT: The existence of
homosexuals is now starting to develop in Serang. It can easily be found in
various social networking media about their existence whether in terms of
performing self-disclosure or even in seeking partner. The process of
self-disclosure starts from introduction phase until the homosexual decides to
build a relationship or to end the communication because of the absence of
relationships compatibility with their same-sex partner. The purposes of this
study are to investigate the process of how symbols and characters used by the
homosexuals in expressing themselves, such as the language they use, and to
find out the communication patterns used by the homosexuals in their
self-disclosure. Theory used in this research is symbolic interaction theory
referring to the interpersonal approaches using verbal and non verbal language
used by homosexuals. In this study, researcher uses qualitative methods refers
to the study of phenomenology. Research samples or informants in this study are
four people with different status and educational background. The
four-informant were taken from different areas in Serang, Banten. Data
collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation and the
use of documentations. Data analysis was conducted using triangulation data. Triangulation
is the technique of checking the validity of the data that utilize something
other than the data for checking purposes or as a comparison to the data. After
doing some researches, the researcher obtains the following results: there is
no use of tangible symbols by the homosexual in Serang. However, flirtatious
eye-contact, body movements and any actions that invite attention believed to
be features of their existence. The language they use is a language of argot
that is similar to the language used by transvestite. Communication patterns
used by homosexual in terms of attracting another homosexual are similar to
heterosexual friendships’ ways, starting from interaction phase until
making-decision phase. The phases carried out by homosexual cannot be separated
from the symbolic interaction generated during the interaction itself.
